OBSERVE THE WONDERS

1000 DAYS OF SUN1000 Days of Sun - (Mandalas for Peace Project) - © Sue O'Kieffe 2009

Observe the wonders that are all around us ~ Rumi

I have been waiting for a day of no rain and hopefully even a little sunshine. I like to create mandalas from recently taken photographs, while the energy of the photoshoot is still fresh in my psyche. It was pretty cold here last night and frosty this morning, but all that white coating had melted by the time I got out with my camera. The sun never really did come out. Delicately-veined dead hydrangeas did, however, catch my eye.

Over at my doodle blog, I have been playing with mehndi-inspired mandalas. The mandala brushes I used in the background of this image were created from those hand-drawn mandalas. I've been looking for different ways to integrate my digital and non-digital mandala worlds and this is just the beginning.

This mandala makes me feel happy. I'm not sure what the significance of the title is, but when I asked for a name this is what came back to me. I think the image has a Mid-Eastern energy, and so it seemed natural to include one of Rumi's quotes in this post. I love Rumi.

This is my 237th post. Look for something exciting when I get to 250! Details to follow.

Hi Sue -

The richness of this one is breathtaking!! You know I love bright color and this is not that -

But I love it!!! It feels absolutely sacred! This mandala compels me in a very unusual way - just amazing!!

The depth - it is so striking!! The inner mandala has so much power in itself ... then to be surrounded by that light - wow!!

Then that rich deep background sets it all off so exquisitely! WOW!!

Thank you!!!

This is stunning Sue. I agree, it has a Mid-Eastern to it and it radiates almost undulates with energy and warmth - perhaps that's why the title came to you.

Very beautiful image. I love the delicate lacey outer circle. Mandala within Mandala.

I'm sending you warm sunshine and hugs.

This mandala is filled with so much light, Sue. Beautiful, it looks like the 21st century is finally beginning!

I don't know if you got my comment back to you, but I was tickled and not at all surprised that you also got the Strength card. I've always known that about you, and you look even stronger these days. Thanks so much for your wonderful comments over on my blog.

Rumi rocks!

this one took my breath away, Sue. The beauty that you find in small things is inspiring. Of course, the idea that in death (the dead hydrangeas) there is so much beauty and light can be comforting. But there is amazing power in the repeated pattern.
