SUMMER DAYS

dance with summer lightDance with Summer Light - (Circles of Light series) - © Sue O'Kieffe 2007

Shadows are lengthening and there is a chill in the air. It seems like the daffodils were just beginning to bloom, and now apple harvest is right around the corner. Two of my favorite flowers, dahlias and gladiolas are blooming in grand profusion right now. Their colors are firey and soft.

I have enjoyed the spirit of play generated by Rima's Digital Art challenges. I sent my contribution directly to Madame Curator. I want to thank Rima as well for showing us how she used Lighting Effects, which I was eager to try, and did with very subtle results in the center of this image.

In the days to come, I hope to post some short tutorials on adjustment layers and layer masks. These nondestructive methods of editing images add a new dimension of flexibility and wonderment to digital art. Stay tuned!

Yes, luscious is it - I immediately thought of a ripe, fragrant fruit, right at the tail end of this summer's bounty. How amazing this ability you have to infuse such exquisitely delicate spirit in your creations. Your artwork is vibrant and jumps off the page/screen, not only because you are so technically masterful as an artist and a digital artist to boot (goes without saying), but because of your own inner beauty. I'm not fawning, I promise you that, I'm just so in awe of your own inner light - and I have to admit, so very flattered that I've been able to give you an idea for your work. Teehee, I feel like the teacher just gave me a gold star (or is it stickers these days?).

Looking forward to the tutorials - I can't seem to grasp these concepts very well. Or at all.

Like Rima I thought of the ripe, juicy center of some wonderful fruit. It's colors also have the promise of fall with its vibrant colors and cooler weather. My favorite time of year.

You know, I thought of tentacles and corals under the sea...Your images make me dream. It is a pity that I cannot see them up close and in person ..hint hint :)

Do you believe in karma?? Man!!! It took me sooo many days to check out the word "substrate" which you left on my blog...I just read the definition of it..Strange how it fits my earlier mental interpretation of "summer days," eh?...the life aquatic.

My substrate?? You really don't want to know :) too toxic for beautiful people like you!

Hi Sue,

This is incredible - I too think it is the center of a fruit ... very nice!

Yes, the season has definitely started to change ... we are in late summer ... not high summer.
