AEDM #21 - Cedar Bear Mandala

Cedar Bear Mandala (Circles of Healing and Eleven Point Series) © Sue O'Kieffe 2010

I love studying the patterns in tree bark. Cedar is especially beautiful. I know it has different healing qualities, and what doesn't smell more heavenly than a cedar chest? Ahhhh...

When I created this mandala,  the faces of eleven bears appeared around the perimeter of the circle.Bears are about wisdom and intuition; and, during these darker inner months of winter, seems an appropriate symbol to appear in a mandala.. Oh yes, and the number 11 is also about intuition, so we have come full circle!

For those of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere..how are you enjoying these dark days of winter so far?

I saw the bears right away, and felt empowerment. Being from Chicago area, Bears are a symbol of strength!

My body's reaction to the coming of winter is hard. With MS the seasonal transitions cause pain. But, as with the last 9 winters, I will endure.

This one is really lovely!

I never like the transition into this time of year. But it was sunny today, so I won't complain.

I love the scratchy lines towards the outside. they remind me of hieroglyphs.

We got our first little touch of snow today. So much fun!

Mlissabeth - I understand about Midwest winters. I know that they are hard on folks with MS, too (I grew up in MN; my mom had MS) I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Go Bears!
dthaase - wow-thanks
Anne - thanks for your comment, fellow AEDM'er
Dave - maybe those scratchy lines were made by bear claws ;) - first snows ARE fun. enjoy!

Hello Sue!
This mandala is beautiful! I love the colours together and the bears definitely stood out right away! I found the message of wisdom and intuition to be very inspiring and reassuring - thanks for sharing it with us! :)
As for these dark days of winter... we are experiencing our first real cold snap here in Alberta, lots of snow! On the bright side, it's making me get into the Christmas spirit ;)
Hope you are staying warm, enjoy the rest of your week!
