Fellow Minnesotan Deb Kirkeeide (whose last name is almost as challenging to spell as mine!) of Painting du Jour has tagged me. Here are the 'rules'

THE RULES:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog

Some fun facts about me:

  • When I was in junior high school, I drew flowers on my legs and then went shopping for shoes at Southdale (the first covered mall in the United States) with my best friend Sandy. I'm a doodler from way back!
  • I grew up in Minnesota, moved to Iowa when I was twenty three, and have lived on the North Coast of California since 1985. I can't imagine a more beautiful place to live. This is home.
  • In July 2001, right before my 50th birthday, I had my aura read and was told in five years I wouldn't even recognize my life. In July 2006 I was beginning to affirm my new life as an artist and waiting to undergo life- transforming surgery. What a difference five years makes!
  • My favorite vegetables are the three A's - asparagus, artichokes, and avocados
  • Before I became a digital artist, I loved beadwork, collage, embroidery and mosaic making. And doodling!

I know I have a lot brewing just below the surface, but thoughts aren't coming easily for me. I am putting myself in a position of being an introspective observer as I contemplate the beginning of a new year.

How do you approach the end of one year and the beginning of another?

Oh, and before I forget, I have been gleaning Solstice and other winter traditions from the book The Winter Solstice, The Sacred Traditions of Christmas, by John Matthews. I purchased this book a few years back from One Spirit book club, but this is the first year I have really looked at it.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for the tag. I look forward to answering!
I like your answers, so fun. Isn't it great that one can create a whole new life? I will be 50 next year and am happier than I've ever been. Transformation!

I also love your fun fact about doodling on your legs.It makes me want to do that now. What are tattoos but body doodles?

I used to doodle in school. I remember getting in so much trouble the day a boy ratted on me in 5th grade, telling Sister Whatever I was drawing naked women. I was drawing what I usually drew; fashion drawings. This one had very little clothes on, but wasn't naked. Try telling that to a 5th grade nun!

Hi Sue,
I'm really digging your doodles!
To answer your question, I am usually really subdued as we end one year and welcome in another. You could call me an introspective observer, too. I think I feel that way because all of the holiday preparations and celebrations during the season can be so overwhelming that I then need some quiet introspective time to ground myself afterward. That usually comes about now. I set aside some time by myself to think about the year that is coming to a close and what I'd like the new year to bring into my life.
That book about Winter Solstice sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing that fun info about yourself. :-)
Happy New Year!

I was wondering what on earth was wrong with me, but now I know..I am just at the end of the year doldrums and all will be ok :) I LOVE this doodle. The colors are wonderful as are all the little things that are hanging down. I love learning more about you too. You were a flower child looking for a pair of shoes :)

Hi Sue,

This is a fantastic doodle - I love it!! Fun to find out some more fun facts about you.

End of the year ... time for introspection and clarification in my opinion ... besides rest and rejuvenation.

Thanks for tagging me, Sue. I have played the game and tagged five others. It was fun doing it and it sure made me think about things.

Great doodle!

Thanks for playing Sue! This doodle reminds me of a beautiful crystal and jewel dreamcatcher.
My year end contemplations started around Solstice and I have mostly just been letting thoughts bubble up and I've been making lists of ideas and goals like crazy as they come up. It will be fun to see if I can manage to achieve all that I have come up with. (If not this year then the next) So I think it is very much about being introspective and resting after the busy-ness of the holidays.
Happy New year my friend! So happy to have found you in this wonderful world of blogging.

Your doodles are amazing. I love love love love love them.

I suspect I will show I am a bad blog-follower when I ask do you have an etsy shop or some place where you sell them?
